Imaging techniques: MRI general

T1WI:
Good anatomical details
Good for sclerosis
Good for tendons and ligaments in general

T2WI/ FS T2WI:
Useful in differentiating tear from tendinosis
Poor INR

PD/ FS PD:
FS sequence is most useful in MSK, often calle FS T2WI
High SNR
Best for cartilage

STIR:
Supresses fat uniformly

Magic Angle Phenomenon:
Produces increased signal intensity within normal tendons when the fibers form 55° with the main magnetic vector.
Prominent with short echo times used, i.e, T1W, PD, GRE.
