Prognostic criteria for SONK on MRI:
The knee 2007: 14: 112-116
Yates PJ et al. from Nortn Hamshire Hospital, UK, followed-up 20 cases of early SONK diagnosed by MRI by conservative management. In all patients, symptoms resolved with conservative treatment in 4.8 months (average) and all MRIs returned to normal.
Conclusion:
Indications of benign course on MRI are absence of focal epiphyseal contour depression and absence of lines of low signal deep in the condyles.
