Origin:
Medial 2/3rd of infraspinatus fossa of scapula
Insertion:
tendinous insertion onto middle facet of greater tuberosity, just posterior to supraspinatus
Other features:
Multipennate with multiple tendons converge to musculotendinous junction
Inferior margin blends with joint capsule
Variants:
May be fused with teres minor tendon
Nerve supply:
Distal fibres of suprascapular nerve after it has passed into infraspinatus fossa through spinoglenoid notch
