Imaging thoracic outlet obstruction

Sites involved:
Vasucalar compression - most common site is costoclavicular space, followed by interscalene space
Neurological compression - most common in costoclavicular space and interscalene space
Retropectoralis minor space is rarely a site of neurovascular compression

Clinical features:
Neurological symptoms are most common (90-95%), sensory more common than motor. Arterial and venous (5-10%)
Roos, Adson, Wright, and costoclavicular tests are performed.

Causes:
Bone:
Cervical rib
long C7 transverse process
First rib and/or clavicle abnormality - osteochonroma, callus etc
Soft tissue:
Fibrous band
Anatomical variants:
Scarring - trauma, surgery
