Rigid and static stabilizer of lateral column of foot.
Only bone to articulate with both midtarsal and tarsometatarsal joints
Aattachments are dorsal and plantar ligaments, peroneus longus, plantar fascia
Dislocation:
Uncommon.
Usually require open reduction
