DISH (Diffuse Idiopathic Skeletal Hyperostosis)

Also known as Forestier’s disease
Affects 3% to 30% of men over 50 years
Increased risk spinal cord injury even with minimal spinal trauma

Clinical presentation:
Back pain and stiffness

Location:
Common in thoracic spine, also in cervical and lumbar

Radiography:
Flowing osteophytes on anterolateral margin of at least 4 consecutive vertebral bodies
Preservation of disc height
Lack of changes associated with sponydloarthropathy or degenerative arthritis
